Hardwood
Hardwoods belong to the botanical group angiospermae and are
the dominant type of tree in the deciduous forest. As a deciduous
tree, before shedding their leaves prior to the cold or dry
season, Hardwood tree leaves often turn orange, red or yellow.
New leaves appear in the spring. Hardwood trees have broad
leaves and produce a fruit or a nut.
Softwood
Softwoods belong to the botanical group gymnospermae and are
the predominant tree type in coniferous forests. As a coniferous
tree, Softwoods have small, waxy leaves and needles and/or
cones, which they usually bear all year long. They are also
called evergreens because they remain green throughout the
year.
