Craftsmanship plus Safety: Stilewood Introduces
New Fire-rated Wood Doors and Door Frame Product Line
September 1, 2006 – Stilewood International
is pleased to announce the introduction of their new line
of fire-rated door and door frame products. Tested, rated
and certified to the highest fire safety standards required
throughout Canada and the United States, this new offering
consists of over 45 designs and is available in various profile
configurations and specie options.
In the past, architects and builders have been limited when
designing structures where fire-rated doors were required
by code. Typically, metal doors with special fire-retardant
foam cores were selected to meet building codes, but although
these doors could be slightly modified to make them more attractive,
they could never compare aesthetically with the beauty and
artistry of a crafted wood door.
“From a competitive point of view, we have just raised
the bar for what’s available in a fire-rated design.
Within any structure, you can now have a Stilewood fire-rated
wood door that both complements the design of the other doors
in the space and which will meet required fire code ratings.
Customers can now have safety and Stilewood artistry, all
in one attractive package,” said Robert Ciccone, Marketing
Director at Stilewood.
Intertec Testing Services, one of the leading testing and
inspection services, has tested and listed a wide variety
of Stilewood products and materials which meet various required
fire safety standards and codes. Fire-rated doors and door
frames are now available in just about every design and wood
species that Stilewood offers, including knotty rustic applications.
The following is a summary of the Stilewood products that
met Intertec’s strict inspection and testing process:
Wood Door Frame Products, 20-minute fire-rated standards:
Available for both single-door and paired-door applications.
Stilewood has the ability to manufacture a frame up to 8’
high x 8’ wide for paired doors, and for single frames
up to 8’ high x 4’ wide. Wood door frames meet
UBC 7-2-1994 Neutral Pressure, UBC 7-2-1997 and UL 10-C Positive
Pressure testing standards.
Wood Stile and Rail Door Products, 20-minute fire-rated
standards:
Minimum of 1-3/4” thick and up to 2-5/8”
thick. For use in single swing applications up to 42”
wide x 96” high and pair swing applications up to 84”
wide x 96” high. These doors meet UBC 7-2-1994 Neutral
Pressure and UBC 7-2-1997 Positive Pressure testing standards.
Wood Flush Doors, which meet 20-minute, 45-minute,
60-minute and 90-minute fire-rated standards:
Minimum of 1-3/4” thick and up to 2-5/8”
thick. For use in single swing applications up to 48”
wide x 96” high, and pair applications up to 96”
wide x 96” high. These doors meet UBC 7-2-1994 Neutral
Pressure and UBC 7-2-1997 Positive Pressure testing standards.
All fire-rated stile and rail doors are also available for
Radius Single and Radius Pair applications.
Rob Soriano, Vice President of Manufacturing, had this to
say: “We’re very excited about our new line of
fire-rated wood door and frame products, and to be able to
offer them to the architectural and design communities.”
He continued: “Now, builders and architects can select
products that are beautiful, safe and consistent with their
original design vision; designers can continue to design creatively
and still meet all fire safety requirements. Stilewood is
now a ‘one-stop shopping’ destination for all
door requirements.”
